Fukushima Airport (code FKS) serves the central and northern regions of Fukushima in Japan. The facility is situated in Sukagawa city, 19 kilometers on the southeast of Koriyama. The airport was constructed in 1970 and upgrading continued into 1990, until it was opened in 1993. Some of the history that Fukushima Airport captures is the filming of the final episode of ‘Cry out Love’, a TV Drama show that was popular back in 2004.
Airport Amenities
In the airport, you will find modern amenities just as you would expect from a modern facility. For refreshments, you can get food and drinks in the restaurants and coffee shops at the arrivals. Fukushima Airport has free Wi-Fi connection that you can use to communicate to your loved ones, as well as catch up on some job that you may need to take care of. ATMs, forex exchange bureaus and car rental booths are strategically located for ease of access.
Airport transfers
Moving from Fukushima Airport after landing is made easy by the modes of airport transfers available. You will find shuttle buses, minivans and taxis, and hence you can select the one that is appropriate for you. If you flew in to Fukushima Airport as a group, the best option will be to board a minivan that will accommodate even your luggage comfortably. The vans and buses are very affordable but they have their limitations, the main one being that they will drop you off to a designated place, and if it is not close to your destination then you have to find another means to complete your journey.
The best option of transport when you have come to Fukushima for holiday is the car rental services. You get a private car for use throughout your vacation, from the moment you land at Fukushima Airport until when the time comes to fly out of the country.
The rental car can be hired on arrival or online before you start your journey to Fukushima. Rent-a-car of your choice to explore Fukushima at your pace as you enjoy the beautiful attractions and nature.
