- Historical landmarks – The Ninth Fort was first built as a fortress during the beginning of the 19th century. Here one can view several historical artifacts that relate to the Soviet and Nazi eras, depicting the atrocities that took place then. It is referred to as the Devintas Kauno Forta. At Kaunas old town you will see lots of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque buildings. There are several old churches and castles here. There are several places for shopping and eating too.
- Festivals and celebrations – The Kaunas Jazz festival is an internationally recognized festival in Lithuania and takes place during fall and just before Christmas. Outstanding artists from different countries usually grace it.
- Museums and Art Galleries – A good number of the major national museums have been set up in Kaunas rather than Vilnius. Examples of them are the Gallery of Mikalojus Konstantinas and the Museum of Devils. There are several other museums within the city which display pharmacy, communications, literature, sports and ceramics.
- Churches of the square – This structures were built using great old architectural designs. The Baroque Jesuit church, St Georges gothic church, Kaunas Cathedral are some of the marvelous religious buildings you must take a look.
- The Vilanus Street – Along this street are several restaurants still in their old authentic buildings. Take time to walk down here as it is regarded as the most important street in Kaunas.
