The most interesting thing with Sofia Airport is that its two terminals are 3 kilometers away from each other. It can be very challenging when connecting from one terminal to the other but the airport management offers free shuttles in an interval of 30 minutes. There is also the option of taxis but that one you have to pay.

Shuttle Services

There are buses offering public transport and they serve the two terminals. Depending on the terminal you are at, look at the bus schedule to know when you are going to catch the next bus since they are only two. The services for these buses are regular during the day starting 5 am up to 11 pm thus it’s unlikely you will get a bus after arriving late into the night. If you are a late arrival, you need not worry because there are taxis at the terminals. This will be a good option if you did not book for car rentals in advance.

You will be able to negotiate with taxi drivers for a low price but be careful not to hire a bogus taxi driver. If you are lucky to have booked into a big hotel in Sofia, you will get a shuttle from the hotel waiting to pick you at the airport. They have shuttles for free but that is done through prior arrangement. If you don’t book with a hotel in advance, don’t expect to enjoy such shuttle services at Sofia Airport.

Additionally, there are unlimited facilities you can enjoy at the airport when you have time. Bureaus for money exchange and ATM's are available at the two terminals, there is a post office you will locate at the departures and cafes are available to serve local delicacies. You can do shopping at shops available as well.
