Darwin Airport (DRW) is an international facility located in Darwin, Northern Territory. It is the tenth busiest airport in Australia serving close to 2 million passengers a year. The airport shares runways with the Royal Australia Air Force base in Darwin.
Darwin Transportation
There are buses and shuttles to transport passengers to and from the airport. If you prefer using a taxi, they are available at the airport too. For a trip between Darwin Airport and Darwin city centre, you will pay slightly higher than the buses. Even though the transport system here is near perfect, you cannot explore to the fullest and in your own convenience while using the public means. You need to hire a car on arrival.
Tourist attractions in Darwin
- Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is one of the greatest and most interesting museums in Australia where you not only find great art but history too at no cost. Incredible exhibition on Cyclone Tracy automatically gives you an insight of the real happenings on that day and the outcome.
- Mindil Beach is the place to see the life of Darwin especially if you are visiting during the dry seasons. If you are into seafood, pre-book your vehicle or just book on arrival at Darwin Airport because you do not want to miss variations at the beach markets on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Best sunset you do not see anywhere else. Grab a chair, sit back, relax and have great foods as you watch Darwin go into the night.
- Berry Springs Nature Park is a striking location away from the city. If you are an outdoor freak, why not take a 45 minutes drive on your hired car for a great tropical experience? Fine walking trails and several open and shaded areas makes this place ideal for a day-out.
- Night cliff Jetty: I bet you have never known a good place to catch the sunset if you have never been at the jetty. Walking along here is out of this world and you can grab some coffee too. The experience you get is nothing less than what I would call a perfect way to end a day.
- Northern Territory Library that is located in parliament building is bright, comfortable and relaxing. You only need to hire a car at Darwin Airport, drive here more often during your stay, brows and learn about its history like the first bomb attack on Darwin in 1942.
